Pause & Reflect
“Let us not be weary in doing good.” Why would Paul need to say this? Because doing good can become tiring. You serve and see little result. You invest in people who do not respond. You work faithfully without recognition. You sow for years before seeing fruit. Weariness can tempt us to abandon good work simply because the harvest has not arrived. Paul tells us to continue. But perseverance does not mean ignoring legitimate exhaustion. Jesus rested. Human beings need sleep, boundaries and rhythms of restoration. Sometimes the faithful response to weariness is rest. Then continue. Don't confuse resting from the work with abandoning the work.
Declare It Today
“I will not abandon what is good simply because I am weary or the results are slow. I will receive appropriate rest and continue faithfully in God's strength.”
Let's Pray
Father, strengthen me where doing good has become tiring. Show me where I need rest and where I need perseverance. Keep me faithful without allowing service to become unhealthy striving. Amen.
