Pause & Reflect
Paul describes believers as being transformed into the Lord's image “from glory to glory” by the Spirit. Sanctification is a process. This is important because growth can feel frustratingly slow. You may recognise attitudes you thought you had overcome. Old temptations may reappear. You may compare yourself with someone who seems further ahead. Don't confuse unfinished transformation with absent transformation. Look back. Are you quicker to repent than you once were? More aware of pride? More compassionate? More hungry for Scripture? More willing to forgive? More sensitive to sin? Growth is not always dramatic. Sometimes holiness develops quietly. And transformation is not ultimately a self-improvement project. Paul says it comes from the Lord, the Spirit. We participate actively. But God is the One transforming us.
Declare It Today
“God is transforming me into the image of Christ. I will not despise gradual growth or become complacent about areas that still need change. I will cooperate with the Holy Spirit's work.”
Let's Pray
Holy Spirit, continue Your transforming work in me. Keep me from discouragement when growth feels slow and from complacency when progress becomes visible. Make me increasingly like Jesus. Amen.
