Pause & Reflect
Isaiah saw the Lord high and exalted, surrounded by the declaration: “Holy, holy, holy.” His immediate response wasn't self-confidence. It was awareness of God's holiness and his own sinfulness. We need both the nearness and holiness of God. God welcomes us into relationship, but He is not casual about sin. His holiness reveals what is true, pure and righteous. Yet Isaiah's encounter does not end with condemnation. God provides cleansing. That pattern points us toward the gospel. We do not make ourselves acceptable to a holy God through flawless performance. God provides what sinners cannot provide for themselves, ultimately through Christ. Seeing God's holiness should therefore produce both reverence and gratitude. As you grow closer to God, don't be surprised if you become more aware of attitudes, habits or motives that need transformation. Light exposes what darkness conceals. That exposure is not an invitation to run from God. It is an invitation to come closer and allow Him to cleanse and transform you.
Declare It Today
“The Lord is holy. I will honour Him with reverence and welcome His transforming work in my life. When His Word exposes sin, I will respond with repentance rather than hiding from Him.”
Let's Pray
Holy God, give me a true vision of who You are. Search my heart and expose anything that does not honour You. Thank You for the cleansing and grace You provide through Christ. Teach me to live with reverence, gratitude and growing holiness. Amen.
