Pause & Reflect
From the cross Jesus declared: “It is finished.” The cross was not an accident interrupting Jesus’ mission. It was central to it. Christ bore sin and accomplished the work necessary for salvation. That means we do not add our moral performance to His cross as though His work were incomplete. Many believers understand salvation by grace intellectually but still live as though God’s acceptance rises and falls according to daily performance. When we do well, we feel acceptable. When we fail, we imagine we must earn our way back. Repentance matters deeply. Obedience matters. But they do not complete the cross. Jesus said: It is finished. Our confidence rests in what Christ has done.
Declare It Today
“Jesus has completed the saving work I could never accomplish for myself. I will not trust in my performance to make me acceptable to God; I will rest in Christ and respond to His grace with grateful obedience.”
Let's Pray
Jesus, thank You for the finished work of the cross. Free me from both pride in my good works and despair over my failures. Teach me to repent quickly and rest securely in what You have accomplished. Amen.
