Pause & Reflect
Paul tells believers that when someone is caught in wrongdoing, those who are spiritual should restore that person “in a spirit of gentleness.” Spiritual maturity is revealed partly by how we treat people who fail. Do we enjoy exposing them? Gossip about them? Use their weakness to make ourselves look superior? Or do we care about restoration? Gentleness does not mean ignoring serious wrongdoing. Truth matters. Accountability matters. Consequences may be necessary. But the goal should not be humiliation. Paul also warns the person restoring another to watch herself. Why? Because none of us is beyond temptation. Humility remembers: “I also need grace.”

“When others fail, I will pursue truth and appropriate accountability without delighting in humiliation. I choose restoration, humility and gentleness.”
Let's Pray
Father, protect me from self-righteousness. Give me wisdom when responding to another person's failure and help me carry truth with humility and restorative love. Amen. SELF-CONTROL
