Jesus overturned the world's definition of greatness. In His Kingdom, greatness is not primarily about having more people serve you. It is about learning to serve. Jesus Himself came “not to be served, but to serve.” Servant leadership does not mean a leader has no authority. It means authority is used for the good of others rather than personal domination. This applies in churches, businesses, homes, teams and friendships. Ask: Do people become stronger around my leadership? Do I listen? Do I use authority responsibly? Do I expect from others what I refuse to do myself? Do I seek recognition more than usefulness? Jesus held extraordinary authority and still washed feet. That is our model.
