Pause & Reflect
James says: “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.” Most conflict moves in the opposite direction. Quick to speak. Quick to interpret motives. Quick to defend. Quick to anger. Slow to listen. Anger itself is not always sinful. Scripture shows righteous anger toward evil and injustice. But James warns that human anger does not produce God's righteousness. Anger can make us feel powerful while reducing our ability to see clearly. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is pause. Listen. Ask another question. Delay the response. Pray before sending the message. A slower response is not weakness. It can be evidence of strength under God's control.
Declare It Today
“I will be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. I do not have to react immediately to every provocation.”
Let's Pray
Father, give me self-control when emotions rise. Help me listen before assuming, pause before reacting and respond in ways that reflect Your righteousness. Amen.
