Pause & Reflect
Paul asks believers: “Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you?” That truth gives extraordinary dignity to ordinary Christian life. God's presence is not restricted to a church building. For the believer, the Holy Spirit dwells within. Paul uses this truth specifically to address how Christians use their bodies. Our bodies therefore matter spiritually. What we do sexually matters. How we treat ourselves matters. What we allow to master us matters. Our physical lives cannot be separated from discipleship. The body is not something worthless that the “spiritual” part of us must escape. It belongs to God. This also means your ordinary Monday can be lived in awareness of God's presence just as genuinely as Sunday worship. You carry your relationship with God into the office, kitchen, classroom, marketplace and home.
Declare It Today
“My body belongs to God and is a temple of the Holy Spirit. I will honour God not only with my thoughts and words but with the way I live physically.”
Let's Pray
Holy Spirit, make me increasingly aware of Your presence. Show me any way I am dishonouring God with my body, habits or choices. Teach me to glorify God in every part of my life. Amen.
