Pause & Reflect
Jesus teaches His disciples to understand God as a good Father. For some women, the word father immediately evokes safety and affection. For others, it may evoke absence, disappointment or pain. Jesus does not ask us to project imperfect human fatherhood onto God. Instead, He uses the contrast: if imperfect human parents know how to give good gifts, how much more does your heavenly Father? God defines perfect fatherhood. He knows what is genuinely good for His children—even when what we request and what He provides are not identical. This is important in prayer. Prayer is not persuading a reluctant God to care about you. You approach a Father who already knows your needs and whose wisdom exceeds your own. You can therefore ask boldly and trust deeply.
Declare It Today
“Through Christ, I approach God as my heavenly Father. He is good, wise and attentive. I will bring my needs to Him confidently and trust His fatherly care.”
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, teach me to know You as You truly are. Heal any distorted picture of fatherhood that makes it difficult for me to trust You. Help me bring my needs before You freely and receive Your wisdom and care with confidence. In Jesus' name, amen.
