“Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow.” Biblical generosity includes justice. Sometimes people need charity. Sometimes they also need unfair conditions confronted. God repeatedly expresses concern for those vulnerable to exploitation. The orphan. Widow. Poor. Stranger. Justice requires wisdom because complex situations rarely fit slogans. But complexity does not eliminate responsibility. Ask whether your decisions, workplace, business practices and influence protect dignity or quietly benefit from exploitation. Generosity gives. Justice also asks why the wound keeps happening.
