Pause & Reflect
Israel's wilderness journey was uncomfortable, but it was also formative. Moses told the people to remember how God had led them through the wilderness, humbling and testing them and teaching them dependence. Wilderness seasons expose what prosperity can hide. What do I depend upon? What controls me? Will I trust God when familiar comforts disappear? Not every hardship is a divine test we can neatly interpret. We should be careful about claiming to know precisely why suffering occurs. But every difficult season can become a place where we learn deeper dependence upon God. The wilderness may reveal impatience. Fear. Entitlement. Self-sufficiency. It can also reveal God's provision. If you are in a barren season, don't waste all your energy wishing you were somewhere else. Ask: “God, how can I walk faithfully with You here?”
Declare It Today
“God can form me even in wilderness seasons. I will look for His provision, receive His instruction and learn deeper dependence upon Him.”
Let's Pray
Father, meet me in the places that feel barren. I may not understand why I am here, but I ask You to form my character, expose unhealthy dependencies and teach me to trust You. Amen.
