Pause & Reflect
David begins Psalm 13 with a painful question: “How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever?” Scripture makes room for prayers like this. Faith does not require pretending God always feels near. There may be seasons when prayer feels unanswered and Scripture feels dry. The psalm shows us what to do with that experience: bring it to God. David moves from lament to petition and finally to trust. He does not deny his pain. He processes it in God's presence. When God seems silent, resist the temptation to conclude automatically that He is absent. Continue praying. Continue reading His Word. Continue gathering with His people. Continue doing what you know is faithful. Feelings of distance are real. They are not always reliable descriptions of God's actual presence.

“When God seems silent, I will continue seeking Him. I can bring Him honest questions without abandoning trust in His steadfast love.”
Let's Pray
Lord, You know the places where I have wondered how long I must wait. Meet me in my questions. Sustain me when I cannot sense Your nearness and help me continue trusting Your character. Amen.
