Filled and Led by the Spirit

Day 38

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Luke 4:1–2

Read Scripture in Context →

Pause & Reflect

Luke tells us that Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Being led by God did not mean being led away from every difficult place. Jesus entered a wilderness. That challenges an assumption we can easily make: If God is leading me, surely everything should become easier. Not necessarily. Sometimes obedience takes us into demanding places. What matters is not merely whether the path is comfortable, but whether we are walking faithfully with God. Jesus also shows us how to face temptation. When the devil distorted truth and appealed to appetite, identity and power, Jesus answered from Scripture. Spirit-filled living and Scripture-saturated living belong together. We need the Spirit's power. And we need God's Word. The Spirit who inspired Scripture will never lead us to despise or contradict it.

Declare It Today

“I desire to live under the Holy Spirit's leadership and God's Word. I will not assume difficulty means God has abandoned me, and I will meet temptation with truth.”

Let's Pray

Holy Spirit, lead me according to God's will. Strengthen me when obedience is difficult and bring Scripture to my remembrance when temptation comes. Jesus, teach me to follow Your example of faithful dependence upon the Father. Amen.
