Give God What You Have

The widow had almost nothing. A handful of flour. A little oil. She was preparing what she believed would be the final meal for herself and her son. Then Elijah arrived with a difficult instruction. Her story is extraordinary, but it should not be used carelessly to pressure vulnerable people into giving resources they cannot afford on the promise that God will multiply their money. This was a specific prophetic encounter. The broader principle is trust. God can work with what appears insufficient. The widow could only offer what was actually in her hands. Sometimes we become paralysed because we focus upon what we do not have. Not enough money. Experience. Connections. Time. Confidence. God may begin by asking: “What do you have?” Faithfulness starts there.
