Pause & Reflect
Paul holds two truths together. Believers are called to active obedience. And: “It is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.” Sanctification is not: God does everything, so I do nothing. Nor is it: I change myself through determination. God works in us, and we respond actively. He shapes desires. Convicts. Strengthens. Teaches. Provides grace. And we obey. Sometimes you may become discouraged because transformation feels slow. Remember who is working. You are not attempting to become Christlike alone. God Himself is at work within His people. Your responsibility is not to manufacture spiritual life. It is to cooperate faithfully with the life He supplies.
Declare It Today
“God is at work in me. I will actively obey while depending upon His power to shape my desires and actions according to His good purpose.”
Let's Pray
Father, thank You that transformation does not depend upon my strength alone. Work deeply in my desires and choices, and give me grace to cooperate with what You are doing. Amen.
