Pause & Reflect
Family rarely consists only of the people we would personally choose. Marriage can introduce in-laws. Remarriage may create blended families. Different cultures, expectations, personalities and traditions meet. That can produce richness. And friction. Romans gives practical relational wisdom: Honour others. Practise hospitality. Be patient. Do not repay evil for evil. Pursue peace where possible. Not every family disagreement is a spiritual crisis. Sometimes people simply have different ways of doing things. Wisdom learns what requires conviction and what merely requires flexibility. You do not need to win every family preference. Sometimes love says: “We do it differently, and that's okay.”
Declare It Today
“I will pursue grace and peace within extended family relationships without demanding that everyone think, communicate or organise life exactly as I do.”
Let's Pray
Father, give me patience and wisdom in extended family relationships. Help me distinguish genuine matters of truth from personal preferences and unnecessary conflict. Amen.
