Caring for Ageing Parents

Day 263

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

1 Timothy 5:4, 8

Read Scripture in Context →

Pause & Reflect

Scripture takes family care seriously. As parents age, relationships can change. The person who once cared for you may increasingly need your support. This can involve practical decisions. Appointments. Finances. Housing. Companionship. Advocacy. And sometimes enormous emotional and physical demands. Honouring ageing parents does not mean one daughter must carry everything alone. Families should share responsibility where possible. Professional support may be necessary. Caregivers also have limits. But Christian faith should shape how we treat people when age reduces their independence. Dignity does not diminish with strength.

Declare It Today

“I will honour the dignity of ageing family members and seek wise, sustainable ways to care rather than treating vulnerability as inconvenience.”

Let's Pray

Father, give me compassion and wisdom concerning ageing family members. Help our family make decisions marked by dignity, fairness, patience and appropriate support. Amen.
