He Glorifies Jesus

Jesus tells us something crucial about the ministry of the Holy Spirit: “He will glorify me.” This gives us an important test for spiritual life. Does what we call spiritual draw attention primarily toward personalities, experiences and ourselves—or toward Christ? The Holy Spirit does extraordinary things. But His ministry does not compete with Jesus. He reveals Christ. Magnifies Christ. Forms Christlike character. Empowers Christ's people to witness about Christ. The Spirit-filled woman should therefore become increasingly fascinated by Jesus rather than increasingly fascinated by her own spirituality. Her question moves from: How spiritually impressive can I become? to: How can Christ be seen more clearly through my life? That affects the way we use gifts, tell testimonies, lead and serve. The glory belongs to Jesus.
