Pause & Reflect
“Love is patient and is kind.” Biblical love contains emotion, but it is larger than emotion. Love acts. It waits. Serves. Tells truth. Forgives. Refuses envy. Rejects arrogance. Does not delight in wrongdoing. Feelings fluctuate. Covenantal love needs character capable of surviving fluctuation. This applies beyond marriage. Friendship. Family. Church. Parenting. Sisterhood. And notice: biblical love does not rejoice in unrighteousness. Love therefore does not require pretending harmful behaviour is acceptable. Sometimes love says yes. Sometimes love says no. Sometimes love embraces. Sometimes love establishes a boundary. The governing question is: “What genuinely seeks the good of this person before God?”
Declare It Today
“I will grow in biblical love—patient, kind, truthful, humble and faithful. I will not reduce love merely to emotion or approval.”
Let's Pray
Father, teach me to love like Christ. Remove selfishness, envy and pride from my relationships and give me wisdom to seek people's genuine good. Amen.
