Marriage Is Covenant, Not Performance

Day 251

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Ephesians 5:21–33

Read Scripture in Context →

Pause & Reflect

Christian marriage points beyond itself toward Christ and His church. That makes marriage far more profound than maintaining the appearance of a successful couple. Covenant calls for faithfulness. Sacrificial love. Respect. Truth. Forgiveness. Service. And mutual concern. A healthy marriage requires two real people continually learning to love beyond selfishness. It will contain ordinary days. Disagreements. Changing seasons. Growth. Repentance. Marriage should never become an idol. A husband cannot carry the weight that belongs to Christ. Neither should biblical teaching about marriage be used to excuse coercion, abuse or danger. Godly covenant does not require pretending destructive behaviour is holy. Christ remains Lord over the marriage.

Declare It Today

“I will honour God's design for covenant relationships through faithfulness, truth, sacrificial love and respect. No human relationship will replace Christ as Lord of my life.”

Let's Pray

Father, strengthen marriages to reflect Your faithfulness and grace. Give wisdom, humility and courage where relationships need healing, correction or appropriate help. Amen.
