There will be moments when you do not understand God. Romans does not respond to the depth of God's wisdom by pretending everything is easy to explain. Paul responds with worship. “How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!” God's wisdom exceeds ours. We see fragments; He sees the whole. We see today; He knows beginning and end. Trust therefore involves accepting that God's wisdom cannot always be reduced to explanations that satisfy us immediately. That doesn't mean questions are wrong. Scripture is full of people bringing difficult questions to God. But there is a difference between asking God questions and believing God cannot be trusted unless He answers every one of them according to our timetable. Spiritual maturity learns to say: “I don't understand this yet, but I know the One whose wisdom is greater than mine.”
