Pause & Reflect
Jesus told His disciples: “Come away into a deserted place, and rest awhile.” They had been serving. There was more work available. People still had needs. Yet Jesus recognised their need for rest. That matters. Proverbs 31 should never be interpreted as divine permission for women to live permanently exhausted. Human beings have limits. Sleep is not laziness. Rest is not failure. You cannot sustainably give what you never replenish. Sometimes refusing rest is connected to pride—the hidden belief that everything depends upon us. It doesn't. God remains God while you sleep. Rest can become an act of trust.
Declare It Today
“I accept that God created me with limits. I will work diligently and receive appropriate rest without guilt, trusting that the world does not depend upon my constant activity.”
Let's Pray
Jesus, teach me healthy rhythms of work and rest. Expose both laziness and unhealthy striving. Give me humility to stop when stopping is wise. Amen.
