The Gentleness of Jesus

Day 170

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Matthew 11:28–30

Read Scripture in Context →

Pause & Reflect

Jesus describes Himself as: “gentle and humble in heart.” Consider that. The One with all authority is gentle. Gentleness is therefore not weakness. It is strength that does not need to crush. You can possess authority and remain gentle. Correct someone without humiliating them. Lead without intimidation. Disagree without contempt. Set a boundary without unnecessary cruelty. Jesus could confront hypocrisy strongly, yet wounded and weary people were drawn toward Him. Our world often associates strength with volume, dominance and aggression. Jesus gives us another model. Ask: Does my strength make vulnerable people feel safe or threatened?

Declare It Today

“I choose the gentleness of Christ. I do not need harshness to demonstrate strength. I will use my words, influence and authority with humility.”

Let's Pray

Jesus, form Your gentleness in me. Remove unnecessary harshness from my speech and leadership. Teach me to combine courage with tenderness and truth with grace. Amen.
