Pause & Reflect
“All have sinned.” Then Paul gives us the astonishing answer: Believers are “justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” To justify means God declares the believer righteous on the basis of Christ. This is not self-improvement. It is a new standing before God. You cannot earn it. You receive it by grace. The cross therefore destroys pride. Nobody stands righteous before God because she outperformed everyone else. And it destroys despair. No repentant sinner has to become her own saviour. Christ is sufficient.
Declare It Today
“I am made right with God by grace through Jesus Christ, not through my own moral achievement.”
Let's Pray
Father, deepen my understanding of justification. Keep me from self-righteousness and from attempting to pay for grace You freely give in Christ. Amen.
