Pause & Reflect
Sometimes we do not know how to pray. The situation is complicated. Our emotions are tangled. We do not know what outcome would ultimately be best. Paul says: “The Spirit also helps our weaknesses.” What a relief. Effective prayer does not depend upon always knowing the perfect words. The Holy Spirit intercedes according to God's will. There are moments when your prayer may simply be: “God, help.” There are tears you cannot translate into sentences. There are questions for which you have no vocabulary. God is not confused by your weakness. The Spirit's ministry reminds us that prayer is ultimately sustained by grace, not eloquence. So don't stop praying because you don't know what to say. Come honestly. God already knows.
Declare It Today
“My weakness does not prevent me from coming to God. When I do not know how to pray, the Holy Spirit helps me and intercedes according to God's will.”
Let's Pray
Holy Spirit, help me in my weakness. You know the situations I cannot adequately express. Intercede according to God's will and teach me to rest in the Father's wisdom when I do not know what to ask. Amen.
