Boundaries Can Be Loving

Day 256

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Galatians 6:2–5

Read Scripture in Context →

Pause & Reflect

Galatians tells believers to bear one another's burdens. A few verses later, it says each person should carry her own load. Both are true. Christian love helps. Christian maturity also recognises responsibility. Without wisdom, helping can quietly become enabling. You may begin carrying responsibilities another adult needs to carry. Saying yes because you fear rejection. Allowing repeated disrespect because you think boundaries are unloving. Jesus loved deeply and still had boundaries. He withdrew. He did not answer every demand. He did not entrust Himself indiscriminately to everyone. A boundary is not necessarily punishment. Sometimes it is simply clarity about what you can responsibly give, tolerate or participate in.

Declare It Today

“I can love generously without accepting responsibility for everything. I will seek God's wisdom concerning when to help, when to say no and where healthy boundaries are necessary.”

Let's Pray

Father, give me wisdom and courage concerning boundaries. Keep me from selfishness, but also from fear-driven people-pleasing and unhealthy enabling. Amen.
