Iron Sharpens Iron

Day 255

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Proverbs 27:17

Pause & Reflect

“Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance.” Not every good friend will always tell you what you want to hear. Some relationships comfort you. Others sharpen you. The healthiest often do both. A godly friend can ask: “Are you sure that's wise?” “Have you prayed about this?” “That doesn't sound like you.” “You need to apologise.” “I think you're being too hard on yourself.” We need people who love us enough to resist simply agreeing with everything. And we must learn to receive correction without automatically treating disagreement as rejection. Sharpening creates friction. But when carried with love and humility, it can produce growth.

Declare It Today

“I welcome relationships that help me become wiser and more Christlike. I will receive loving correction humbly and offer it carefully.”

Let's Pray

Father, give me friends who encourage and sharpen me. Protect me from defensiveness and teach me to speak difficult truths with humility, timing and love. Amen.
