Pause & Reflect
“Children are a heritage of Yahweh.” Children are gifts. But gifts from God remain ultimately His. Parenthood can tempt us toward ownership. We imagine our children should become the people we planned. Choose the career we prefer. Develop the personality we understand. Achieve what makes us proud. Avoid every decision that frightens us. But parenting is stewardship. A parent's responsibility is not to manufacture a child in her own image. It is to love, protect, teach, guide and prepare a human being who ultimately belongs to God. That requires discernment because every child is different. Parenting cannot eliminate all pain or guarantee particular outcomes. We plant. Teach. Correct. Pray. Love. And increasingly release.
Declare It Today
“Children are entrusted by God, not owned by me. I will seek to guide faithfully without attempting to control what belongs ultimately in His hands.”
Let's Pray
Father, give me wisdom to steward the children You place within my influence. Help me love them as individuals and resist turning my expectations into their identity. Amen.
