Pause & Reflect
Jesus uses the image of a mustard seed when speaking about faith. The point is not that we must manufacture enormous emotional certainty before God can act. Even small faith directed toward a great God matters. We easily become preoccupied with measuring ourselves: Do I have enough faith? Sometimes a better question is: Who is my faith in? Faith is powerful not because faith itself is magical, but because God is powerful. At the same time, this verse should not be used to shame people when a desired outcome does not happen. Jesus is not giving us a technique for controlling God. He is teaching dependence upon Him. Bring the faith you have. Even if it feels small. Place it in the hands of a great God.

Let's Pray
Father, keep me from obsessing over whether my faith feels impressive. Fix my attention upon You. Strengthen my trust and teach me to depend upon Your power and wisdom. Amen.
