Generosity When You Have Little

Jesus noticed a widow giving two small coins. Others gave much larger amounts. He saw the sacrifice. This passage should never be used to pressure people in poverty into giving away necessities to prove faith. Jesus’ attention falls on the widow’s heart and the disproportionate cost of her gift. Generosity cannot be measured only by amount. A wealthy person may give a large sum without inconvenience. Another person may give a small amount at real cost. God sees differently from public comparison. Give according to truth, wisdom and capacity. The heart matters.
