The Spirit Speaks

Day 64

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Acts 13:1–3

Pause & Reflect

While the church in Antioch worshipped and fasted, the Holy Spirit directed them to set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work to which He had called them. Scripture clearly teaches that the Spirit guides God's people. But that truth requires both expectation and discernment. Not every thought that enters our mind is God's voice. Not every strong feeling is divine direction. Not every open door is necessarily God's will. The same Spirit who guided the early Church is the Spirit who inspired Scripture. He will not contradict God's revealed Word. So how do we become women who are sensitive to God's leading without becoming careless? We immerse ourselves in Scripture. We pray. We cultivate humility. We seek wise counsel. We examine motives. We test what we believe we are hearing. And then, when direction is genuinely clear, we obey. Spiritual maturity is not confidently attaching “God told me” to every preference. It is becoming increasingly discerning and obedient.

Declare It Today

“The Holy Spirit guides God's people. I will remain attentive to His leading while testing what I perceive through Scripture, prayer, wisdom and godly discernment.”

Let's Pray

Holy Spirit, make me sensitive without making me presumptuous. Help me recognise Your guidance and distinguish it from my own desires, fears and assumptions. Root me deeply in Scripture and give me courage to obey when Your direction becomes clear. Amen.
