Pause & Reflect
“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?” Jesus asks a question every ambitious person should revisit. What if you achieve the goal and lose what mattered most? You can build something successful while your soul becomes increasingly empty. Gain influence while losing integrity. Increase income while neglecting family. Build ministry while losing intimacy with God. Receive applause while becoming someone you no longer recognise. Achievement is a poor substitute for discipleship. There is nothing wrong with building something excellent. But success must remain submitted to Christ. Ask periodically: What is this pursuit producing in me? Not merely: What is it producing for me?
Declare It Today
“No earthly success is worth losing spiritual integrity, intimacy with God or obedience to Christ. I choose success defined by faithfulness.”
Let's Pray
Jesus, protect me from gaining things that quietly cost my soul. Keep every ambition beneath Your lordship and show me when the price of an opportunity is too high. Amen.
