Pause & Reflect
Joseph's family story was complicated. Jealousy. Favouritism. Betrayal. Deception. Separation. Years of pain. The Bible does not present family as automatically safe simply because people share blood. Some of our deepest joys come through family. So can some of our deepest wounds. Joseph eventually reached a place where he could see God's providence without pretending his brothers' actions were right. He said: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” Notice: he still called evil evil. Redemption does not require rewriting wrongdoing as acceptable. God's sovereignty means another person's sin cannot ultimately defeat His purposes for your life.
Declare It Today
“My family history does not have final authority over my future. I can acknowledge wrongdoing truthfully while trusting God's ability to redeem what others meant for harm.”
Let's Pray
Father, bring healing into painful family relationships. Give me wisdom about forgiveness, boundaries and reconciliation, and redeem what has been wounded without requiring me to deny the truth. Amen.
