Pause & Reflect
The serpent's strategy began with a question: “Has God really said...?” Temptation often works by distorting truth before inviting disobedience. God's goodness is questioned. His boundaries are made to look restrictive. Desire is presented as more trustworthy than His Word. Eve's story reminds us that spiritual deception rarely introduces itself as deception. It often sounds reasonable. Attractive. Empowering. Desirable. That is why discernment matters. You cannot evaluate every idea merely by asking: “Does this feel good?” Ask: “Is this true?” “What has God actually said?” “What does this promise me, and what might obedience protect me from?” Temptation may exaggerate what God withholds while minimising what disobedience costs. Return to truth.
Declare It Today
“I will not allow desire or persuasive voices to redefine what God has spoken. I will test what I hear by Scripture and trust God's wisdom even when temptation presents another path as attractive.”
Let's Pray
Father, give me discernment when temptation distorts truth. Help me recognise half-truths, question deceptive promises and trust Your boundaries as expressions of Your wisdom. Amen.
